Hey Everyone,
If you haven't read up on the newest tournament offering in Charlotte, here is you chance.
On March 27th, the Queen City Chess Association is trying out a new format (that we stole from the Statesville Skewer's, thanks Mike) with a very very low entry free. We are charging one dollar for QCCA members and five dollars for non-QCCA members to compete in a four round G/65 tournament. And yes, we are allowing players to take a bye if you only want to play three rounds and be home in time for dinner, you can do that.
With this low entry fee, we aren't able to payout a cash prize fund but this will be a NCCA Grand Prix event so you will earn these points for playing.
With all the comments we have been hearing about high entry fees, well here is the cure for that. Where else can you play four rounds of rated chess for five dollars???
How can someone run such a low cost tournament you ask? One of the reasons that we can do this is becuase of our location. Dr. Chun of the Asian Library is a strong supporter of Charlotte Chess and allows us to use the library for our club meetings and now for this tournament. However, the library is only so large so we have to cap the tournament at 50 players. So, if you want in, I strongly suggest that you pre-registered by sending me an e-mail indicating your intent to play.
If you would like to see the list of those that have already registered, you can do so on our website:

Thanks everyone and have fun,
